We've recently completed another new SharePoint based internet website for
Northamptonshire County Council (NCC). The website was built for the
Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) and you can see the results
here. This project was slightly different in that the website actually already existed as a sub-area of the main NCC website. NMPAT are breaking away from the council as a separate entity and wanted their web presense to also have it's own identity.
Essentially we needed to build new Masterpages, Page Layouts and Stylesheets that integrated with the existing content and functionality. We were then able to take the existing site and apply the new branding by swapping out the masterpage. This was a great exercise in proving SharePoint's flexibility in hosting multiple, separate branded websites within one host site.
The new site had to be cross-browser compatible and accessible to all users. These requirements can be quite challenging, particularly in SharePoint, but we managed to deliver on all fronts and have a very happy client. The website is pretty snappy too, this is mostly due to the client and server side optimisations (SharePoint or otherwise) that were put in place.
